The policies that govern both the FGLM Academy and the FGLM Career Institute, in plain language.
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) gives eligible students certain rights over their education records. An "eligible student" is a student who is 18 or older, or who attends a school beyond the high school level. For students who are not yet eligible, these rights belong to their parent or guardian.
Eligible students have the right to inspect and review their education records within 45 days of the day the FGLM Academy or the FGLM Career Institute receives a request for access. Students should submit a written request to the school that identifies the record(s) they wish to inspect. The school will arrange access and notify the student of the time and place the records may be inspected.
Eligible students have the right to request that inaccurate or misleading education records be corrected. Students should submit a written request to the school, clearly identifying the part of the record they want changed and why. If the school decides not to amend the record, the student will be notified of the decision and their right to a hearing.
Eligible students have the right to provide written consent before the school discloses personally identifiable information from their education records, except to the extent FERPA authorizes disclosure without consent -- including to school officials with a legitimate educational interest, or upon transfer to another school in which the student seeks or intends to enroll.
The school may designate certain information as "directory information" (such as name, dates of attendance, and program of study) that may be disclosed without consent unless the student notifies the school in writing that they do not want this information released.
Eligible students have the right to file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education concerning alleged failures by the school to comply with FERPA's requirements. The office that administers FERPA is:
